Funniest Hand Ever

I had to post this bad beat I took because it was so funny to me. I guess I can laugh about it since I still ended up profitting in this particular session. Over 40 hands this guy was playing something like 14/2, which made his "play" even more surprising...

Button ($43.05)
SB ($28.90)
Hero (BB) ($50.85)
UTG ($34.80)
Funny Villain MP ($69.95)
Preflop:
Hero is BB with A, A
Funny Villain in MP with A,2
UTG calls $0.50,
MP calls $0.50, 1 fold,
SB calls $0.25,
Hero bets $3,
UTG raises to $34.80 (All-In),
2 folds,
Hero calls $31.80
Flop: ($70.60) J, 5, 3 (2 players, 1 all-in)
Turn: ($70.60) 4 (2 players, 1 all-in)
River: ($70.60) J (2 players, 1 all-in)
Total pot: $70.60 Rake: $3.50

Reviewing June (Such a Roller Coaster Month)

THe good news is I did well at 25NL this month. In 6404 hands I ended up +$316.66. The bad news is that I made two unsuccessful shots at 50NL . After a total of 11513 hands I ended up with the following numbers:
BR: $988.83
Profit: +$62.18

So if you do math, you can see how POORLY I ran at 50NL. There was little to no change at all in the way I played at 50NL, but I did notice a few differences in the type of players I ran into. There were several instances when I'd end up getting called in 2-3 spots after attempting an iso raise. Then more often than not I'd miss the flop, and with 3-4 players going to the flop I'd either be forced to cbet into a few "willing callers" or not cbet at all. Another interesting fact that I just looked up is that I got KK 45 times this month, for a whopping +$2.97, lmfao. It's just really frustrating to not be able to win at all at 50NL, when my "reads"on the tables suggests that I should be winning more.

I am considering waiting till I have 25 buy-ins before moving back up to 50NL. This way when I get back up to 50NL I can afford to start slow and not worry about dropping down after 1 or 2 bad sessions. So my goal for next month is just to play solid poker at 25NL and build towards those 25 buy-ins.

Reviewing the Month of May

Despite taking two weeks off from poker this month (for vacation), it still turned out to be an ok month. Here are the numbers:
BR: $926.65
Profit: +$177.16

...I have been a little disappointed with the table selection on UB. More often than not there are only 1 or 2 "loose" tables when I am looking to play 4 tables, and some days the selection makes me not play at all. I kind of debating on whether or not to just 4-table on a regular schedule despite the selection. For example, maybe playing at least 1.5 hours a day, and a little longer if the tables are good. If anyone has any better routines and/or suggestions, please let me know...

I am certainly going to try and play a lot more hands for June though, and hopefully run good enough to get back to 50NL by the end of the month.

A New Month + Poker/Life Lesson Learned...

Ok, so here's what resulted from my stats review last month:
-In 14 weeks of play I was 7-0 (winning weeks-losing weeks), and 3-4 in the last 7 weeks. sick huh.
-Even sicker, I was +$683.85 in the first 7 weeks, and -$431.95 in the last 7 weeks.
-For the most part, my major stats were the same during both spans of play. The only significant difference I found was an 8% decrease in my Cbet% from the first 7 to the last 7 weeks.

...so here's what I decided to do. I am simply going to step up my Cbetting and see how that goes. Hopefully it works...

Now for the Poker/Life lesson:
I was recently reminded of an important thing to remember when at a poker table. I actually was reminded of this from something that happened to me away from the tables...
When at the tables, always remember that no matter how cool you become with the other players, you are never on the same team. You are there only to GET YOURS, and not help anyone else. You have to just as easily check raise your best friend sitting across from you the same way you'd do to the donkey that everyone hates. The moment you let up or rely on others is when you start leaking chips (or get felted), and you'll have no one to blame but yourself.

...So in life, as in poker...It's cool to be nice, but don't hesitate to GET YOURS!

Back to Square One...

My graph since the beginning of the year...
...As of today I'm officially in the red on UB (still up overall thx to FullTilt). With a BR of $747.49, I am at -$2.51. I know it could be alot worse, but I honestly can't imagine feeling any worse about my game right now. Despite making around $250.00 in rakebacks and bonuses, I am still in the red. FML.

As I've mentioned before I am sticking with UB at least till I clear all of my bonus. So the plan for now is going to be as follows:

I am not going to play for the rest of the month. Instead I'll be reviewing my stats (on week by week basis) since the beginning of the year. Basically I'll be looking for any difference in my play when things were going good compared to when things were going bad. I'll probably post what I find at the beginning of next month.

My "I Need to Vent" post

Just writing this post because twitter doesn't give me enough characters for this one. Poker has been really pissin me off this month!!! I've been mediocre at best, and the most I've been up is like $45 (I'm down about $35 right now) I could blame the site like everyone else (it has been brutal at times), but F that. If the thousands of pros out there can consistently win online, then why can't I (or anyone else for that matter)....

...so here's the conclusion i came to. After a little review of my stats for this month, I found that I that from positions 1, 2, 3 and the button, I've been winning. From the blinds, however, I am spewing hella money!!! I've actually lost more money from the BB than positions 1-button combined!!! What a Donkey!!! lol.

So with 7 days remaining in the month I've decided to work on my game in the blinds and really make effort to play solid because maybe it's not UB's fault, maybe it's mine. Even breaking even for the month will be a plus for me...

March a.k.a "The Bad Winning Month" Review

I'm starting to wonder if moving to UB was the right move. Sometimes the tables are really bad, and I just force myself to play. Or it could be the "run bad"/tilt phase (see graph) I went through last month that's making me doubt the site and myself a little. But, I'll be playing on UB at least till I clear that bonus, so hopefully things get better. Here are the numbers for the month:
Profit: +$90.84
Bankroll: $865.41 (haven't been keeping track of the bonuses, that's why there's a little extra there.)
Anyways, my goal for April is the same as it was in March. Crack $1000.00 and move up to 50NL.
